The Tax File Declaration (TFD) report allows you to prepare and submit employee Tax File Declarations to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). You can generate the report, mark declarations as reported, or lodge them electronically.
Note: If you are reporting using Single Touch Payroll (STP) Phase 2, you do not need to lodge Tax File Declarations separately, as this information is reported through STP.
Generate a Tax File Declaration report
Navigate to Reports.
Under ATO Reports, select Tax File Declaration Report.
Filter the report
You can filter the report by:
Employing Entity (if applicable)
Employee Location
Click Show Employees, then select the employee(s) you want to include.
Choose a reporting action
After selecting the required employees, choose one of the following options:
Generate
Creates the Tax File Declaration report without updating the reporting status.
Generate and Mark as Reported
Select Generate and Mark as Reported.
Specify the reporting period.
Generate the report.
The report is exported as a TPD file, and the selected employees are marked as reported.
Mark as Reported
Marks the selected employee Tax File Declarations as reported without generating a report.
Lodge Electronically
Submits the selected Tax File Declarations electronically to the ATO.
Important: If your business has adopted STP Phase 2, employee Tax File Declaration information is included as part of your STP reporting. You do not need to generate or lodge Tax File Declarations separately using this process.
